It has been a pleasure over the last eight years to work as an Associate Lecturer at Chelsea College of Art. I have enjoyed working with faculty and students exploring spatial projects and possibilities.
The past four years I have had the pleasure of co leading a Design Research Studio on the Bachelor’s Degree in Interior and Spatial Design. This studio work has been inspiring and has dealt with diverse issues and ideas designers face today.
Sustainable practice, the curation and display of the object within the museum environment, branding and brand identity as a spatial construct within the built environment are all subject areas which have been explored in the studio.
The live project has been one area of exploration in studio and twice I have co led a group of students to design and build live projects at Ecobuild. The first project saw the reuse of swimsuits donated by Speedo to create a surprising and delightful pavilion entitled The Space of Waste. In the second project students reused newspapers donated from the Daily Mail to create the pavilion Valley in the Clouds.
